Using analytics to evaluate my ICU performance

Recent progress in the electronic medical records (EMR) for ICU and cloud-based analyses allows us to apply the Donabedian principles, created 40 years ago, in near real-time. Basically, there are three types of indicators based on the Donabedian Categorization (Donabedian 1978):
1.Structure: describes the organization, facilities, and staffing. It often presents aspects that can be improved with increased investments;

2.Process: describes the care process between the caregiver and the patient. It usually depends on which aspects of care are easier to change;

3.Result: describes the result, often at the patient level. Ultimately, it is the most important indicator.
